Bobbie is *such* a good boy!!! So, today, he was reaching for his sister's Play-Doh. I decided that we'd go ahead and give it a try. I was pretty wary, as I expected him to try and eat it. He, though, just mushed it, rolled it, squashed it, etc. When he was really absorbed in it, I wandered off to get a few things done in another room. In about five minutes, he began calling me. I went back in, and sure enough, he was done with the Play Doh, but he had NOT just cast it aside or anything like that. He had, very sweetly, placed it back in the container and put on the lid!!! Can you believe this kid?

He then went on to play with some colored pencils. (He has tired of our crayons, and I have to admit, they're really sucky crayons. Need to grab a big box of Crayolas) He was coloring with them and sharpening them. We've been doing more alphabet stuff lately, and he has several letters that he likes. He kept asking me to write "B" on the paper. In the end, it was pretty cute--his scribbles with all these B's in various colors around the page.

So, here's the funny part. After that, I put him down for a nap in his bed (not crib). He goes right down, suckles away on his bottle and seems content. I went upstairs to have a quick chat with [info]earhart (aka Daddy), and I hear what sounds like B's bottle falling out of the bed over the baby monitor. Shortly after that, there was a light rustling sound. Nothing like when he gets out of bed, or so I thought. My mommy-sense started tingling, though, so I head downstairs just to be on the safe side, and low and behold, he had *very quietly* gotten out of bed and *very quietly* made his way into the kitchen where he was *very quietly* taking things out of the dishwasher. Mind you, he is NOT allowed to mess with the dishwasher. I don't know whether to be happy or sad; my baby's learned to be sneaky...*sigh*

Today, Katy cooked for the first time! She cracked two eggs, scrambled them, and cooked them up for herself and her brother!
She was so proud of herself that we snapped a few pics.

Here they are! )

Speaking of firsts, Bobbie has one of his own. Yesterday, this little boy went poo poo on a big potty. His dad and I were so amazed that we didn't think to take any pictures, for which I am sure he is quite grateful (or at least will be when he's about 15 or so...). He also is making the transition to sleeping in his regular bed. So far he's just using it for daytime naps, but before long, his crib will be gone. (anybody need a crib???)

He understands a lot more than this, even compound or multi-step commands. It's wonderful. It is so neat to see the awareness and the udnerstanding in his eyes. He had an appointment with the pediatrician today who was really amazed by B's verbal skills. He says that Bobbie is communicating/interacting/playing more at the level that he would expect of a two-year-old than someone 15 months (almost 16).

This one's going to be a wind poem, with crystals
When all the wind comes together
all the crystals come with it

"I'm just gonna take a little break," she says.

A gold and silver poem, by Katy
Gold and silver flowers
are mixing together
through the air and through the night
then the sun comes up and dries them
and when the rain comes down
the gold and silver flowers
look like gold and silver together

when the beautiful raindrops
with the gold and silver inside them
drop down
then all the gold and silver comes out
when the gold and silver mix together
they all come back together

Katy's Poetry
(as dictated to Mamma)

The autumn breeze blows
The glass comes with it
and all the beautiful tree leaves that are green
and they come with the wind forever

and when the wind blows with the autumn breeze
and all the beautiful tree leaves are falling
and can be
and when the wind blows
the autumn breeze blows
and blows
and the way goes and goes
and when the wind blows
it blows all the way to the end
to the end

and when the golden falls from the trees
and it blows away, the gold and the silver,
by mixing together
and when it blows all the plants come with it
and the wind blows and all the beautiful plants come with it
to the day and to the night

"That's the end. Now send it to my livjournal," she says.

Guys, this was ALL HER. Mamma did not write or alter a word of it. I have not been reading poetry to her, nor have her fathers. Pure Booka inspiration. Whoa. As to how this started--she was sitting there, "writing" in her paper journal (making squiggly lines...:P) and saying this as she "wrote" it. I asked her if she'd like to put it in the computer for everyone to read, and she did. So, we came up here to the computer, and she dictated it to me. I, honestly, did not prompt any of it, alter any of it, or even feed her an idea. This all came from her sweet, little mind. Yet again, I am completely blown away by my daughter. She is amazing, isn't she.

"I want you to put on there that this is the flowered end."

I'm not sure what that means, but she *really* wanted me to type it.

You can say whatever you want to, she says. I want to say that my Katy is wonderful and I love her intensely. She is a good big sister and an amazing help to me as a mamma. She is smart. I tell her every day to be "strong and smart and good," and she really works at it. An amazing girl that Katy is, an amazing girl!!!
